Here’s How to Help People Affected By the Massive Tsunami in Indonesia
An earthquake-triggered tsunami swept through Indonesia on Friday, destroying neighborhoods and killing thousands of people. The disaster has left at least 844 people dead, and over 2 million people impacted with substantial damage to their homes.

A tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake hit, but many people in Palu were unable to receive alerts due to loss of power.
Survivors are currently looting shops for food and water, telling reporters that they have run out of food and supplies. Others are still looking for their missing loved ones.

World Vision’s emergency response team is on the ground, assessing damages. They shared this video to their Twitter yesterday morning.

According to the World Vision website, “In the aftermath of a disaster, people desperately rely on rapid assistance: food and clean water for basic survival, shelter and blankets to keep warm and dry, and emergency health services. World Vision responds to all these urgent needs to save lives, reduce suffering, and ensure families can rebuild their lives and livelihoods.”
